Have you ever put on a cream, lipstick, or mascara without thinking about its story? Behind many beauty products lie silenced screams. Burned eyes. Torn skin. Lives locked in cold cages. The cosmetics industry, in the 21st century, still sacrifices innocent lives for something as superficial as aesthetics.
A painful reality
Rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and even dogs are used to test products we use every day. They are restrained, forced to ingest substances, have corrosive compounds applied to their skin or eyes… all to see if we can use them safely.
The problem? There are alternative, effective, ethical, and validated methods. But for many companies, it’s still cheaper to torture than to change.

The case that shocked Spain: Vivotecnia
In 2021, a secretly recorded video revealed what was happening inside Vivotecnia, a preclinical research company in Madrid. The footage showed workers mocking the animals, shaking them, hitting them, handling them with utter contempt, and leaving many to suffer for days.
There were monkeys, rabbits, Beagle dogs… treated like trash, without a shred of compassion. And all of this, with public money and under regulations that supposedly protect animals.
The images spread across the country. More than half a million signatures were collected demanding Vivotecnia’s closure. But today, that company is still active.

Undercover in the bunker: when horror becomes visible
This British documentary uncovered another brutal case. An activist went undercover for months in a laboratory experimenting on Beagle dogs. She recorded their cries, their broken gazes, their trembling bodies as they were injected, tortured, and ultimately killed.
Undercover in the bunker is not easy to watch. But it’s necessary. Because when we look the other way, we’re complicit. Because you can’t love animals halfway.

What can you do?
You have more power than you think. Every time you buy a beauty product, you’re voting with your money. You can choose companies that respect life. You can say NO to brands that hide abuse behind pretty advertising.

Although some claim to be making progress, many are still directly or indirectly linked to animal testing. Get informed before you buy.

It’s not radical. It’s compassion.
This isn’t about being extremists. It’s about being human. About looking into an animal’s eyes and understanding that it feels. That it suffers. That it wants to live. Just like you.
Every decision counts. If thousands of people change their habits, companies listen. And if they don’t listen, they lose. Because beauty shouldn’t hurt. Especially not those who can’t defend themselves.
Don’t cover your eyes by closing them. Get informed. Share. And choose with your heart.
