Cow severely injured after tongue partially cut by unknown suspects in Muzaffargarh

A disturbing case of animal cruelty has been reported from the Langar Sarai area of Muzaffargarh, Punjab, where unidentified individuals attacked a cow and partially severed its tongue using a sharp-edged weapon. According to police officials, the incident occurred while the animal was grazing, and the attackers managed to escape without being identified. A medical report issued by the Punjab Livestock Department confirmed that nearly half of the cow’s tongue was cut, leaving the animal in serious condition.

The cow’s owner, Umar Hayat, stated that due to the injury, the animal is now unable to eat properly, raising concerns about its survival and well-being. He also revealed that this is not the first such incident, alleging that unknown persons had previously targeted his livestock, including harming his goats. He has urged authorities to take strict and immediate action against those responsible.

Police have registered a case at the Saddar police station under the relevant Animal Act and have initiated efforts to trace and arrest the suspects. However, no arrests have been made so far. This incident highlights a worrying pattern, as similar acts of cruelty—such as cutting animals’ tongues and breaking their limbs—have been reported in different parts of the country.

The case has raised serious concerns among locals and animal welfare advocates, who are calling for stronger enforcement of animal protection laws and swift justice to prevent such inhumane acts from recurring.
