Florida Father Charged with Animal Cruelty After Allegedly Killing Family Kittens in Front of Teen Daughter

A Florida father, David Charette Jr., 48, was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty after authorities allege he killed two family kittens and injured a third in front of his teenage daughter as a form of punishment. Bodycam footage released by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies responding to a home in Pine Manor after receiving a report that Charette was attempting to drown and strike a two-month-old kitten named Luna. Witnesses told investigators that Charette allegedly abused and killed the kittens in front of his daughter when she ‘acted up.’ The sheriff described the case as ‘deeply disturbing’ due to the alleged cruelty toward the children. Luna was taken to a local animal hospital for treatment and is recovering. Investigators later learned Charette had allegedly killed two other kittens over the previous year, including smothering a one-month-old kitten with a bleach-soaked rag and using a blow-dryer on a three-month-old kitten. Both kittens were buried in the backyard, but only one was recovered during the search. The case has sparked outrage, with officials emphasizing the severity of the alleged actions and the need for justice.
